A huge weekend of racing has arrived with some cracking meetings to keep punters entertained.
The South Australia carnival kicks off at Morphettville with plenty of youngsters out to show their class. Zak Trussell has the good oil.
Rick Morris and Michael Manley cover the eastern coast. They have Sandown and Eagle farm best bets.
The multi looks well over the odds. Get on.
Eagle Farm Race 9 #5 Go Wanji $2.40
He's never missed a place in his career boasting 6 wins from his 9 starts to date (9:6-2-1).
We will have to wait until the last race, though this Toowoomba trained galloper will make the wait worthwhile.
He posted a strong win first up. Second up, he endured a passage of hell, unable to get out till late. He flew to the line but just missed.
Veteran jockey Larry Cassidy knows this horse very well, having ridden him at his past three runs.
He will need to go back again from the wide gate and find a back to follow.
Stepping up to 1400m will give him plenty of time to reel in his opposition.
Looks very well placed in this field.
Morphettville Race 3 #8 Gaze Grise $4.20
Graze Grise put in a nice run second up, finishing over the top of them to win comfortably at BM68 level.
Out of that race, the 2nd placed horse has since come out and won a BM70, franking the form.
At his last start, Graze Grise went to Oakbank and hit the line better than any others.
That was at Listed level and he ran 2nd behind the very talented All Banter.
He is now at peak fitness, drops back to benchmark grade and finds a very winnable race.
Will go back from the barrier and settle rearward.
This isn’t ideal on the Parks track, however there is plenty of pace in this race and I expect them to over-do it up front.
This will allow him to come over the top of them & be too good.
Great play on a tough day of betting at Morphettville.
Sandown Race 9 #6 Sir Davy $5.00
This promising galloper from the Maher/Eustace stable handled his first try over 1600m with aplomb.
Last start, he finished strongly to win running away at Sandown Lakeside.
That followed a comfortable win over 1400m at Caulfield.
He handles soft going although hasn’t been seen on a heavy track.
Drawn out which will be an advantage come the final race.
He’s only had 10 starts and he’s already won four, but he’s likely to keep improving.
