Punters are out in force engaging in plenty of early shopping this week, and shaping opening markets with some sharp bets at both key venues.
At Ballarat a Tom Dabernig runner hasn’t been missed and although the price is already compressed due to the undefeated record, the additional market push suggests the hose is flying at home.
While at Rosehill Paul Messara is traveling one down from Scone, which he rarely does unless they are ultra confident!

Cleo Cat
Undefeated after 4 starts now and whilst they are not treading Black Caviar areas just yet, they do have a very nice horse on their hands.
The stable does know when to back them and she must be going well at home for the already compressed price to be taken.
This is a slight step up in grade to Benchmark 78 level, however she certainly deserves her chance and can win again.
Little Jack
The ownership group love a bet and is likely to have moved this price on their own after the trainer said bet.
He was excellent first-up at Caufield when the betting said he wasn’t ready ($7 out to $10), yet he still almost won.
If he is that forward in condition, you would expect this is the run where he will be peaking and given the soft draw (gate 3) he should have every chance.
Shaiyhar
Showed plenty early in his career when touted as a potential star after posting some well-above average numbers.
He has since gone cold, however it must be said his historical peaks are more than good enough to brain this field…if he can replicate them.
The early money would suggest they are seeing plenty at home to indicate he is returning to his best form.
Future History
Has a touch of class after several Group 1 campaigns where he was far from disgraced this season in the G1 Metropolitan and G1 Champions Stakes.
This is much easier than recent assignments and he looks to have every chance from a class angle here!
Given even luck in running, you would absolutely expect he will feature in the finish.
In Summer
Races for the big owners in Arrowfield and has been entrusted to Paul Messara who does an excellent job for the family with lesser quality stock.
Paul knows exactly the right horse to travel down from Scone and this one is likely to be tearing up the turf in trackwork.
She won well last start in country grade at Scone, when heavily backed ($1.95 into $1.70) and looks likely to measure up here in City Saturday class.
Cosmic Lad
Had no luck last start at Newcastle when forced to do it tough wide with no cover throughout.
A testing run where they need to work can often bring them on, especially at this stage of the preparation and he certainly will have a fitness edge coming out of the last start effort.
From gate 11 the rider will be positive and look for a position on or close to speed, where he should be able to give a good kick off the front.
Modesty
Well bred gelding for the high-profile owners in Aquis who would expect results from the stable.
He was good over the 2000m at Kembla Grange last start and importantly remains at that distance here where he should be rock hard-fit.
Tommy is booked which says a lot, as he would have had his choice of a few of these, being leading off-season rider.
Tristate
Anthony Cummings runner who has been up for a long time now however does appear to release his racing.
He loves the sprint trip here at Rosehill (10:2-1-4) and does show above-average toughness when the pressure goes on.
From the low draw here (gate 1) they can go forward and possibly control this throughout before giving a healthy kick inside the final 200m
