It might be a new month, but punters are proving yet again that they've got the wood over the media experts. Following a spring carnival where punters were cleaning up left, right and centre, early indications suggest that the summer will see more of the same.
The Top 10 for most cash profit over the past week included just 3 tipsters from the racing media. The media experts did a bit better in the Profit on Turnover (POT) category, with 4 representatives in the Top 10. However, the damning stat is that in both measures, just one media tipster was able to crack the Top 5.
While punters have a leg-up picking and choosing their races, their dominance is signficant considering this advantage. Going forward, media tipsters will be wanting to fight back and show why they deserve the spotlight over their unknown counterparts.
Following RowdyLegend's stellar effort last week that saw him register the second highest cash profit, the Shepparton punter went one better this time. He topped the cash profit leaderboard with a hefty total of $8,510 from $100 bets.
And once again, it was his high average winning price that was behind his ability to rake in the profits. The average odds of $13.73 from his 18 winners meant that Rowdylegend ended the week with an impressive 53% POT.
Incredibly, that effort didn't back up Rowdylegend's November effort where he recorded a POT of 70% from no less than 282 tips. His 44 winners from these tips came at an average winning price of $10.90. This demonstrates not just Rowdylegend's knack of finding a roughie, but his ability to do it consistently. You couldn't ask for anything more.
Another punter who had no trouble finding value was Deej101. This Pro only tipped 12 horses, but had 5 of them greet the judge at a phenomenal average winning price of $9.48. This effort led to a cash profit of $3,540 from $100 bets, as well as a whopping POT just shy of 300%.
Trevjess also deserves a mention for his 33 winners that saw a return of $3,680 in cash profit. This was the third-highest cash profit on the weekly leaderboard in a week where punters put the media tipsters to the sword.
However, one media tipster who acquitted himself nicely was Shayne O'Cass. This Super Racing form expert covers more meets than just about any other media tipster. Over the past 7 days, O'Cass' recorded an incredible 84 selections, 27 of which saluted at an average winning price of $4.40.
Don't forget that as well as being restricted to what races they post their tips for, media experts face deadlines that can be up to 72 hours before race day. Therefore, they don't have the advantage of late pre-race information and market moves that punters have access to.
Finally, Darren Flindell had an impressive week, recording $1,580 in profit at a phenomenal 99% POT. This backs up Flindell's November stats where he finished with the 8th-highest POT of 50%. Flindell is flying at the moment registering 8 profitable days from his last 10. No doubt Sydney's premier race caller is also one of the in-form experts to follow.
