Won three on-the-trot before running one of the best lead up races you’ll ever see in the Group 3 Belle of the Turf Stakes at Gosford. Restrained from the widest barrier, the Waterhouse-Bott trained mare flashed home for a narrow second against a strong field. The form from that race was franked when the third-place horse, Positive Problems, won last week at Randwick.
Sedanzer has three switches in her favour from her last run:
Sedanzer is currently $3.60 enhanced odds.
Was disappointing first-up at Randwick after running in winkers for the first time. In a key switch, the winkers have been removed for this run and trainer Kurt Goldman believes the mare is back to her normal self. Faultless track work and blood tests in the lead up to this race point to the gear change as the key attributer to her last start failure.
Eckstein looks set for this race where he has his second start after a freshen with a strong second-up record of two wins from three starts behind him. He gets a favourable barrier draw (2) which will allow jockey Brenton Avdulla to sit close to the speed.
Eckstein is currently $11 enhanced odds.
Bookies often overlook the form-line of horses and it appears they have done so in the feature Magic Millions two-year-old classic. Nomothaj was impressive in her first career start at Flemington in October, beating a field that consisted of Sunlight who is the current $4 favourite here. Sunlight has had two runs for two wins since that race, however she will be hard pressed to repeat those efforts from barrier 15.
Nomothaj was spelled following her first-start win and has since had two barrier trials, winning the most recent one by 2L wearing blinkers. The Hayes & Dabering training partnership have opted to retain the blinkers here and are confident she will only improve on her last run following a favourable barrier draw (2).
Nomothaj is currently $11 fixed odds.
