Horse Racing Tips for Flemington 17/5/25

Melbourne racing returns to headquarters this Saturday with a strong card at Flemington. The track is rated in the Good to Soft range, but all eyes will be on the weather with a high chance of light rain on race day. The rail moves out to 4 metres after being in the True position last meeting, where the track played fairly, particularly in the straight races. Expect the wide lanes down the middle to be the place to be once again. One galloper who looks set to continue his rise through the grades is King Zephyr and Michael Manley is keen to stick with this exciting sprinter.   Michael Manley’s Best Bet for Flemington Saturday 17/5/25 Manley continues to nail his best bets at a good rate! Subscribe here so you never miss his tips!.    Flemington Race 6 – No.11 King Zephyr $2.20 Trainer Grahame Begg has a serious talent on his hands with King Zephyr, who has won five of his six starts, including all four runs this campaign. Begg has specifically targeted this race as a ratings booster to help secure a start in the upcoming Stradbroke Handicap. He returns to 1200m after a strong win over 1400m on Anzac Day at this track and steps up in class, but crucially, he drops to just 54kg. He’s also trialled well on wet ground, suggesting he’ll have no trouble handling any sting out of the track. Stick with him, this rising star can win again.   There are loads of tips for today's racing in our Horse Racing Tips market at theGreatTipOff.com.

Horse Racing Tips for The Scone Cup 2025

Feature racing returns to the Hunter Valley this Friday for the highly anticipated Scone Cup meeting. Known for its rich tradition and strong fields, the Cup Day program kicks off a massive weekend of racing at Scone, attracting quality gallopers chasing not only the prestigious trophy but also a coveted berth in the Big Dance at Randwick later this year. The track is expected to race in the Soft range, with conditions ideal for an exciting day of competitive racing. With a deep and talented line-up assembled for this year’s Scone Cup, tempo and tactics will play a critical role in determining the outcome. You can get my full set of tips for racing this Saturday via the link below.   Neil Evans continues to nail his Feature Race best bets Land his early prices for this week & subscribe to his tip package now!.   Neil Evans’ Scone Cup Day Preview – Friday, May 17 Neil’s Scone Cup Tip – Race 7 @ 4:05pm – Listed Scone Cup (1600m) Top Selection – #8 West Of Africa (Each-Way) This tough and consistent five-year-old from the Annabel and Rob Archibald stable is bursting to break through for his seventh career win. Hard fit and in career-best form, West Of Africa has been knocking on the door in strong company, including a fast-finishing placing in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes and an eye-catching run in the Muswellbrook Gold Cup. Freshened since charging home late to miss by just a long neck in the Tamworth Cup, he looks well suited here with a significant 4kg weight drop. The wide barrier is actually a plus given his racing pattern—expect Chad Schofield to find cover early before angling wide and launching late down the middle of the track. On a spacious circuit and solid tempo, he looks primed to storm over the top.   The Dangers #5 Tavi Time: A strong threat with a powerful finish if he gets the right run. #9 Ducasse: Progressive and capable of producing a big finish. #10 Floating: Well-weighted and consistent; will be in the mix. #15 Know Thyself: Carries no weight and maps to get every chance. #20 Green Fly: Has the talent but needs luck from a wide draw.   Likely Tempo: Solid Bet Plan: West Of Africa Each-Way & Boxed Exacta with #5, #8, #15   For thousands more tips including free selections for today's racing, head to Australia's best racing tips market at thegreattipoff.com.

Horse Racing Tips for The Doomben 10000 2025

A very wet track, several key formlines, and a host of runners reaching their peak deep into their preparations make this year’s Doomben 10,000 one of the most intriguing and challenging editions in recent memory. The weather will play a critical role, with up to 25mm of rain expected by Friday, leaving the surface likely to settle around a Heavy 9. With the rail in the True position assessing any track pattern early will be vital, especially with many key chances drawn wide. Expect momentum into the straight to prove decisive, particularly behind what shapes as a strong early tempo. You can get my full set of tips for racing this Saturday via the link below.   Neil Evans continues to nail his Feature Race best bets Land his early prices for this week & subscribe to his tip package now!.   Neil Evans’ 2025 Doomben 10,000 Preview and Best Bets Speed Map Summary Overpass, drawn wide but hard-fit, looks to spear across and take control early. Schwarz will follow over from a wide gate, with Rothfire sliding across to be prominent. Mazu faces a similar wide alley but can push forward to settle behind the speed, alongside Zarastro. From an inside draw, Golden Mile will need to make use of the barrier and park just a few lengths back, somewhere near Sunshine In Paris and Lady Laguna. Veight looks to settle worse than midfield with Desert Lightning, Benedetta, and Jedibeel further back, hoping to unleash late.     The Market Sunshine In Paris holds narrow favouritism around $4.50, but on a heavily rain-affected track with plenty of genuine chances, she’s unlikely to shorten much further. With so many variables, it’s a race to tread carefully, and taking anything under $5.00 looks risky.   Neil’s Best Bet – Benedetta $5.00 Powerhouse mare Benedetta is primed to return to the winner’s stall. She was outstanding, storming home behind Schwarz in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes before again hitting the line strongly in the G1 All Aged Stakes at Randwick. A recent trial at Doomben suggests she’s right on track, and the freshen-up with four weeks between runs looks ideal as she drops back to 1200m. Importantly, she boasts an explosive turn of foot and handles wet ground perfectly. Expect her to peel to the middle of the track and charge late.     The Main Dangers Schwarz: Resumes off two sharp trial wins and loves rain-affected going. Huge threat if he handles the pressure early. Mazu: Last-start Group 3 winner who’s a proven swimmer, boasting five wins from eight starts on heavy tracks. Overs at around $12. Sunshine In Paris: Has the class and comes through the same strong form line as Benedetta. Will be thereabouts again. Jedibeel: Well-drawn to find cover, and importantly, he thrives in wet ground. Looks a strong each-way play at $11. Overpass: Will give a bold sight out front, but his heavy track credentials don’t match his impressive soft track form.   Neil’s Top 5 Selections Benedetta (Best Bet) Schwarz Sunshine In Paris Jedibeel Overpass   For thousands more tips including free selections for today's racing, head to Australia's best racing tips market at thegreattipoff.com.

Lay Betting Tips: who to avoid on the punt 17/5/25

This week, we focus on two warm favourites whose prices appear severely over-bet and represent extremely poor value for punters. At Flemington, we are against a Grahame Begg runner stepping up to Stakes level for the first time and with no early speed, he looks tactically unsuited. At Doomben, we are happy to risk a Gai and Bott import making his Australian debut. He faces the challenge of a tight-turning Doomben circuit and must contend with a distance that is short of his best form. Avoid both runners at their current short prices in betting.    Jimmy Beeson continues to nail his lays at a good rate. Looking for more of his tips? His Early Market Movers drop Friday.   Horse Racing Lays on Saturday Flemington Race 6 #11 King Zephyr $2.30 I always enjoy opposing runners who are forced to rise to Stakes grade for the first time, and that is exactly the case here with this Grahame Begg-trained hope. While the stable is flying, their horses are often over-bet due to recent success, and bookmakers are sure to keep this price artificially short throughout betting given the expected flow of money. He does not possess much early tactical speed, and that is a concern. Recent Flemington straight racing has favoured runners who can position forward of midfield, and it looks unlikely he will be able to secure that type of run. At the poison price, and likely to be giving a start to the main chances, I am very happy to oppose him here. Avoid.     Doomben Race 6 #1 Sir Delius $2.60 I am more than happy to pot the Gai and Bott import, who faces several challenges on Australian debut. He will need to be extremely adaptable to handle the tight-turning Doomben circuit, which is rarely a forgiving task for imports and certainly not something reflected in his short price. These types of horses also tend to be over-bet due to the hype generated by a prominent stable and the marketing push to ownership groups. I believe that hype has played a significant role in his current price. Although he has been prepared with several trials, his best form has been over longer distances around 2400 metres, and the 2000-metre trip here looks short of his ideal range. I expect a market drift close to start time as professional betting teams oppose him, and $3 or better should be widely available at the jump. Lay.   Access more betting tips for Saturday racing here.

David Gately Horse Racing Tips for Flemington 17/5/25

Melbourne racing returns to Flemington where the track is rated Good to Soft, and little rain is expected leading into Saturday. However, there’s a high chance of light rain on race day itself, with anything from 1 to 10mm predicted. The rail moves out to 4 metres after being in the True position last meeting, where the track played fairly, though straight races saw winners coming away from the inside rail. You can grab my full package via the link below, including tips for the Scone Carnival.   Get Gator's Premium Tip Package for Saturday here.   David Gately Horse Racing Tips for Flemington 17/5/25 Bet of the Day – Race 6 #11 King Zephyr $2.20 King Zephyr looks every bit a Group-class horse in the making. He was wide throughout here last start but still proved far too good, running a strong time under a big weight. Back to 1200m and rising in class, but this talented galloper can handle the rise. He’s the one to beat.   Best Each-Way Bet – Race 4 #5 Daggers $5.00 Daggers produced a big finish fresh before being unsuited when dropping back in trip second-up and battling a track bias. Last start, he hit the line nicely in Group 2 company, and the winner from that race has since won a Group 1. Back to a more suitable trip and in a winnable race, he shapes as a great each-way play.   For more free tips to put into your multi, head to our Racing Tips Market at thegreattipoff.com.
