While the running rail is out 9m no track bias should be seen, and every runner will get their opportunity.   See who the All-In boys like in the Turnbull Stakes   The Speed Map In typical Waterhouse & Bott fashion, race favourite Eliyass (16) will come across from the wide barrier to find the front, along with Bois D’argent (14). Duke De Sessa (7) will be prominent in the run along with Young Werther (2). Place Du Carrousel (4) will also likely use the good draw to get a forward position in running. Top contenders Buckaroo (8) and Via Sistina (12) should be spotted at midfield while Atishu (5) and Warmonger (10) will be towards the rear of the field.   The Favourite - Via Sistina $4.40 Via Sistina may have disappointed in the Makybe Diva Stakes last start, finishing behind a few key rivals as a $2.50 favourite, but there are reasons to remain positive. Before that she was sensational in her first-up win in the Winx Stakes at 1400m, showing an electric turn of foot that had her pegged as a Spring star. Her Makybe Diva failure can largely be forgiven as she struggled on the Heavy track that day, which isn’t her ideal footing. She’s proven her quality on softer surfaces in Europe, which are often more rain-affected than Australian tracks, so a Soft 6 here shouldn’t pose too much of a problem. If Via Sistina returns to the form that saw her dominate in the Winx Stakes, she can bounce back in a big way and win this comfortably, re-establishing herself as a prime Cox Plate contender.   Via Sistina winning the Winx Stakes   Tips 1st – Via Sistina ($4.60) I expect Via Sistina to return to her best here. She maps well, will enjoy the conditions, and should have too much class for this field. A win here will confirm her status as one of the key Cox Plate fancies.   2nd – Warmonger ($12.00) I’m keen on Warmonger as a value play. His run in the Makybe Diva was impressive, finishing ahead of Via Sistina, and he’s likely to improve second-up. His turn of foot is lethal, and while this may not be his race to win, he’ll be rattling home late. He’s shaping up as a serious Caulfield Cup contender, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him come close here.   3rd – Place Du Carrousel ($14.00) Don’t dismiss Place Du Carrousel despite a below-par first-up run in the Underwood Stakes, where she had post-race excuses. If Buckaroo is priced at $4.60 after winning that race, Place Du Carrousel should be considered great value, and I’ll be having a small saver on her.   4th – Atishu ($13.00) You can never count out Atishu at Flemington over 2000m. She thrives at the track and distance, and while her last start in the Makybe Diva was underwhelming, she’s shown enough in recent runs to be in the mix. Her second in the Concorde was an equal career peak run and signalled that she continues to thrive on racing. With even luck she wins that race and given it was over an unsuitable trip she looks almost unbeatable over the 1200m here. Her nearest rivals in the race are two former Everest champs, who have been out of form and will need to improve significantly to win. Happy to oppose both of them.     Race 7 - Premiere Stakes (1200m) - Mick Gannon Snow In May ($6.00) impressed in the Tea Rose, running Autumn Glow to 1.2L. She was slowly away and held up in the straight, yet still managed run the fastest last 600,400 & 200m of the race. In a small field with a limited pace, look for her to get on the back of the favourite, Autumn Glow, who will again looks likely to be ridden upside down and finish fast. The price differential between the two is far too significant and I think with even luck this time around Snow In May could cause a boil over.     Race 8 - Metropolitan (2400m) - Luke Hovhanesian In a wide open Metropolitan it's best to look wide for value that the market may have missed. Athabascan ($21.00) looks a big price on the back of two solid lead in runs. His late work in the Chelmsford was outstanding before having the race shape against him in the Kingston Town. He gets out to a peak distance and the John O'Shea yard is in a purple patch of form at the moment. From barrier 9 he will get a great run midfield and granted they can run on looks a cracking each-way play. Others at odds that peak interest: Immediacy ($17.00) and Etna Rosso ($9.00)     Race 9 - Epsom Handicap (1600m) - Luke Hovhanesian I've been with Ceolwulf all campaign and can't see any reason to drop off now. He was brilliant second up from his spell and then was brave last start after being exposed a long way from home. He drops back from 2000m but in a strongly run Epsom that fitness is going to be worth its weight in gold. This year’s Group 1 Metropolitan ranks as one of the most open editions in recent memory, with no runner priced under $6.00 early, making it a prime betting opportunity for punters. While many in this field are coming out of the Group 3 Kingston Town formline behind Eliyaas, it’s the Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup winner Etna Rosso who stands as the runner who could shake things up. Stablemate Unusual Legacy ($6.50) is also worth noting, coming into this race fourth-up from a soft draw with the minimum weight. The likely winner will emerge from a handy trailing position, about two to three lengths off the speed.   See who the All-In boys like in the Metrop   The Speed Map The Waterhouse & Bott trained Serpentine ($12.00) will take the lead, with rank outsider Cleveland ($81.00), Future History ($9.50), and Zardozi ($8.50) also pushing forward. Etna Rosso and Land Legend ($9.00) will settle in the next group, with Unusual Legacy ($6.00), First Light ($12.00), and Que Tempesta ($16.00) expected to settle midfield. The remaining runners, including Wyclif ($24.00), will need to make their moves earlier, as the tempo is unlikely to be strong.     The Favourites With the market so wide, any number of runners could emerge as the favourite, but expect the battle for that spot to be between Zardozi, Etna Rosso, and Unusual Legacy.   Neil's Best Bet and the Dangers At the big value, Etna Rosso is a stand-out. Carrying just 51.5kg, he is one of seven runners initially accepted by Chris Waller. This progressive five-year-old only needs to find cover from a tricky draw to stake his claim and could prove to be one of the best each-way bets of the day.   Despite making the big jump from BM 88 grade, Unusual Legacy is well capable of finishing over them from an ideal map, parking a few lengths back with cover. If he gets any luck from the wide gate, Wyclif ($24.00) is a big-priced knock-out chance on the limit weight after chasing home Etna Rosso at Newcastle.   In a thin lineup, Godolphin mare Zardozi has more than enough class to pounce here fourth-up carrying just 52kg.
